Music Mondays - Only You Can Save
This song is so powerful! It calls us on our lack of action. Don't miss out on opportunities God puts in front of you to make a difference. I hope this song convicts you like it does me!

The Elf on the Shelf
Let me just preface this whole post by saying I believe in Santa Claus. But my 8 year old has her doubts. This year I really thought she decided to stop believing. With more questions than ever I stuck to my usual responses..."what do you think?" and "well you know Santa has a lot of helpers" (yes, that's us :)). I had decided to go ahead and come clean but I could tell as she began to have a panicked look on her face that she wasn't ready. So I covered and the belief goes on...
The next day, she insisted on getting an Elf on the Shelf. Honestly I thought I'd dodged that bullet. Having one more thing to remember to do along with the pressure for it to be something grand, along with me feeling a bit like I am being dishonest, I was not looking forward to it. But of course I gave in (who can rob that child of Christmas magic?) and we got an Elf on the Shelf. "Her" name is Snowball and she recently got into a bit of trouble! All I can say as a mother of a 8 yr old daughter that hates to clean up her room, it appears that her elf is cut from the same cloth! Remember...if you don't believe you don't receive! Merry Christmas!

No Grumbling Allowed
Today I will not grumble when I have to call the Maytag repair company for my dryer, because it means that I have a dryer to dry my clothes and that is a blessing.
Today I will not grumble when I have to sit on the phone with Charter because it means I have a computer that is connected to the internet and gives my family access to a world of information.
Today I will not grumble about being cold because I have warm clothes and a warm home.
Today I will not grumble when I hear that scary noise my van is making because it means that I have a vehicle to drive my family to church.
Today I will choose joy and delight myself in God's way for my life.
What about you?
"For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people. Hold firmly to the word of life; then, on the day of Christ's return, I will be proud that I did not run the race in vain and that my work was not useless." Philippians 2:13-16

Is There a Santa Claus?

I read a recent blog post from an old friend, Renee Hood, and not only did it bring tears to my eyes but it completely touched my heart. May we all remember with the holidays quickly approaching that we can all be a Santa Claus by opening our hearts, homes, and arms with a giving spirit year round!
